THE RELATIONSHIP OF THROWING MECHANICS TO INJURIES & IN-SEASON PITCHING CORE EXERCISE PROGRAM
This Seminar is designed for baseball coaches, athletic trainers and strength coaches. This presentation provides an in-depth look at abnormal throwing mechanics and their relationship to injuries. Using video analysis of major league pitchers this presentation will demonstrate normal throwing mechanics and go through the five stages of pitching and the most important ways to identify potential injuries. This seminar will present and demonstrate a proven core shoulder elbow in-season conditioning and maintanence exercise program.

Pitching core exercise program for in-season maintanence and conditioning
- EMG analysis of the upper extremity in pitching
- EMG analysis of the scapular muscles during a shoulder rehabilitation program
- EMG analysis of the glenohumeral muscles during a baseball rehabiliation program
- Cassidy professional shoulder elbow conditioning program
- 5 stages of pitching • Demonstration of normal & abnormal throwing mechanics
- Video analysis of normal throwing mechanics
- Dysfunctional patterns of throwing leading to pathology
- Pitching drills with Gil Patterson for teaching normal pitching & throwing mechanics
- Stretching & core warm up exercises for preparing a baseball player
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The seminar will enable the baseball coach, athletic trainer or strength coach to prevent shoulder and elbow injuries through a proven inseason shoulder elbow conditioning program tested over a 4 year period with the Oakland A’s minor leagues and modified for professionals, college, high school and youth levels. The participant will be able to analyze the throwing motion with the naked eye and through use of video analysis to uncover the reasons the player is developing shoulder and elbow problems. The participant will develop the knowledge and skills to correct the abnormal mechanics through pitching and throwing drills. The participant will learn the core stretches and warm up exercises to prepare the player for the game.
